Narcissus in Greek mythology was a hunter from the thespiae territory in boeotia. He was renowned for his beauty and has exceptionally proud distaining those who loved him. As a punishment; the gods made him fall in love with his own reflection in a pool of water, unable to leave his own image "not realising that it was just an image" he wasted away to death. People displaying narcissism have an inflated sense of their own importance and have an unhealthy love of their own physical appearance
